Jodi Binstock - Director, Writer, Storyteller
Bio
Director. Filmmaker. Storyteller.
Jodi graduated from film school at NYU, where she began her career in theatre, film, television, and commercials. Soon after, she directed the award-winning short film A Limited Engagement. After moving to L.A., Jodi received the coveted Disney Directing Fellowship, working in both multi and single camera episodic television. She's directed multiple episodes of ABC’s Boy Meets World and You Wish.
Recently Jodi directed the film Prisoner of Love, based on the true-life story of the lifelong corrections officer Vicky White who broke her convict boyfriend, Casey White (no relation) out of prison and set out on an 11 day fugitive run that ended in her suicidal death. Currently, Jodi is in post production on a made for TV “whodunnit”, entitled Below Deck Deceit.
Previously, Jodi directed the thriller, I’ll Be Watching starring Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars) which aired on Lifetime Worldwide.
Jodi is working to get her original screenplay #Sibtrip! into production in 2024. She also wrote (adapted) the screenplay and will direct the YA film, All You Get Is Me based on the award-winning novel by Yvonne Prinz with Demi Lovato as Executive Producer.
For five seasons, Jodi has was the Producing Director for the Syfy/Netflix hit Z Nation directing multiple episodes having penned several of those she directed.
Proud to be one of the 7% of female “Helmers” in Hollywood, Jodi is as comfortable with comedy as she is with drama. Jodi’s romantic Christmas comedy A Snowglobe Christmas is an annual favorite starring Alicia Witt and Donald Faison and her poignant comedy Call Waiting, was the Official Selection of 9 major film festivals and was lauded as the WINNER of the Jury Prize for BEST COMEDY at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival as well as BEST COMEDY at Tiburon International Film Festival.
Jodi also has a long list of producer credits to her name including Lisa Kudrow’s Web Therapy (Emmy Nominee) and the Netflix hit Black Summer.
Jodi lives in Los Angeles and maintains Canadian Permanent Residency. Of all the work she’s proud of, foremost is her daughter, Logan, who is an Agent at the Creative Artists Agency.
